Welcome to the website of the Avon Meadows Community Wetland and Local Nature Reserve in Pershore, Worcestershire

The Wetland was established in 2008 jointly by Pershore Town Council and Wychavon District Council and is supported by a local volunteer group - the Friends of Avon Meadows CIO, now a registered charity.

It comprises an area of 24 hectares beside the River Avon only a 5 minute walk from the town centre.  Originally water meadows, a series of flooded scrapes have been created as a haven for wildlife.  There are numerous footpaths in the area and a boardwalk runs through the middle of the wetland so that visitors can get up close to the wildlife.

The Wetland performs an important function as it takes surface water from the nearby housing estate and provides a natural means of improving the water quality before it enters the river.

Following January 2019's vandalism when the dipping platform was destroyed, we are actively raising funds to replace it and take the opportunity to enhance the immediate area.

Delayed by the wet winter 2019/20, the work is now expected to take place in Autumn 2020 once the bird nesting season is over.
